The Issue
The North Shore refers to the north-facing coastal area of O'ahu between Ka'ena Point and Kahuku Point, and is world famous for its natural beauty, environmental diversity, country town atmosphere, local culture, big wave surf spots, and the historic town of Haleiwa.

Currently, the only large hotel in the North Shore is Turtle Bay Resort, which has 443 rooms and cottages. The hotel's property covers 880 acres and includes two tournament golf courses.

The proposed expansion by the owners of Turtle Bay Resort plan to build five new hotels with 3,500 more condo, timeshare and resort hotel units on and around Kawela Bay. This would inevitably destroy the current "rural" atmosphere and change the natural and cultural landscape forever. Learn more...
